Civic Congress of Senior Organizations and Senior Leaders
12 december 2024
On 10 December 2024, nearly 500 people gathered at the University of Economics and Human Sciences in Warsaw to promote active participation of seniors in social life and ways of activating it. The event was organised by the MANKO-Voice of Seniors Association and brought together numerous personalities and experts to share their experiences and knowledge.
The Congress was opened by: Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Minister for Senior Policy, Prof. Agnieszka Neumann-Podczaska and Łukasz Salwarowski, President of the MANKO Association. Among the guests were also Dr. Anita Richert-Kaźmierska, Vice-President Dr. Krzysztof Balon, attorney Michał Modro and Dr. Andrzej Lejczak.
One of the key moments of the Congress was the debate "Citizen actions for the safety of seniors", which took place in the auditorium of the Campus Vizja Park. It was moderated by Łukasz Salwarowski, and participated, among others, by attorney Michał Modro, Małgorzata Miś from the Aquila Consumer Protection Association, Agnieszka Winiarska-Milnikiel from TV Puls, Igor Marczak (SeniorApp), Oliwia Gissel from Tomorrow Offline Foundation and Tomasz Twardosz from Attention Smartphone.
During the panel, Milena Górecka from the Educational and Information Campaigns Unit of UKE pointed out that even the best designed social campaigns or legal regulations will not replace common sense and assertiveness towards fraudsters. "It is common sense and assertiveness towards 'miracle dealers' that must be the first line of defence against fraudsters and swindlers," she said.
The topic discussed at the Congress will be continued during today's webinar, which will start at 13:00. Participation in the webinar is free, just click here.
