Conference ‘Dangerous offer’

Black Friday is a good opportunity to discuss online shopping and online security.

On 25 November 2022 Milena Górecka and Katarzyna Grabowska from the Consumer Policy Department conducted a lecture during the conference ‘Dangerous offer - detection of threats at the consumer market’, which was organized by University of Applied Sciences in Elbląg and the Municipal Consumer Ombudsman - Paweł Rodziewicz.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), the European Consumer Center, the Trade Inspection, the City Police Station in Elbląg, as well as students of University of Applied Sciences, and of both Technical Schools and Technical-IT Schools.

Milena Górecka and Katarzyna Grabowska talked about threats lurking on online buyers, phishing and basic network safety rules. Wojciech Szczerba from the European Consumer Center talked - among others - about how to pursue claims in cross-border disputes. Maciej Czapliński and Aleksandra Kapnik from the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection presented current legal regulations in the consumer protection, whereas Ewelina Antczak-Bobińska talked about unfair commercial practices controlled by the Trade Inspection. The conference was concluded with the speech of senior warrant officer Artur Bajorek and lieutenant Piotr Kuźnicki from the City Police Station in Elbląg, who talked about various preventive activities.
