Code with UKE

Today we had the opportunity to meet with students from Primary School No. 360 in Warsaw. We divided the activities into two parts – each with a different character, but both equally engaging.

The first part was a lecture titled “Manipulation in Social Media.” We talked about how the internet works and what tricks social media platforms use to influence our thinking and decisions. There were many real-life examples, some discussion about algorithms and so-called information bubbles – all explained in a clear and accessible way. The students were very active – they joined the discussion, shared their own observations, and asked some very insightful questions.

The second part was hands-on – coding with the use of Photon educational robots. The children worked in groups and controlled the robots on their own, programming their movements and actions. It was a great exercise in logical thinking, cooperation, and creativity. There was plenty of laughter, joy from successes, and learning from mistakes.

Both the students and the teachers gave very positive feedback. The topics were not only interesting but also highly relevant – especially given the growing role of the internet and technology in young people’s lives. We hope that the participants took something valuable from this meeting – and maybe even discovered new passions.
