Hate Speech and Manipulation in Social Media

Hate Speech and Manipulation in Social Media

At the invitation of the Public Library of the Mińsk Mazowiecki Municipality, in June 2025 we had the pleasure of conducting a series of educational workshops for primary school students from the Mińsk Mazowiecki area. The workshops focused on the issues of hate speech and manipulation in social media.

The goal of the workshops was to raise students’ awareness of the risks associated with using digital media, as well as to develop their critical thinking skills and ability to navigate the online space safely and responsibly.

During the sessions, we discussed topics such as:

  • the difference between real and fake news,
  • how clickbait works and its impact on audiences,
  • the phenomenon of deepfakes – including their technical background and how to identify manipulated visual content,
  • the principles of responsible and safe use of social media.

The workshops were interactive – students actively participated in discussions, shared their experiences, and asked questions about various aspects of the digital world. Their engagement clearly demonstrated the need for this kind of educational initiative.

The workshops were held at the following schools:

  • Primary School in Brzóze,
  • Primary School in Janów,
  • Primary School in Marianka,
  • Primary School in Huta Mińska,
  • Primary School in Zamienie,
  • Primary School in Stojadła,
  • Primary School in Stara Niedziałka.

We sincerely thank the Public Library of the Mińsk Mazowiecki Municipality for their cooperation and for giving us the opportunity to work together to strengthen the digital competencies of children and young people.
