Ministry of Finance Programme: “Lessons on Finance”
04 october 2024
In addition to carrying out our own educational activities, we join actions organised by other institutions. This is another year that we are a partner of the “Lessons on Finance” programme organised by the Ministry of Finance.
“The aim of the ‘Lessons on Finance’ Programme – 2024 edition is to support the implementation of financial education activities consisting in conducting lessons on broadly understood finance among primary school pupils. Financial education contributes to increased financial literacy, which is now one of the basic life competences.
There is no single subject dedicated to financial issues in primary school. These themes are present in the content of the general education core curriculum of several subjects. In view of this, it will be valuable to carry out lessons showing pupils that taking care of their own finances is a very important part of everyday life from an early age. An important element of this programme is also to popularise knowledge among pupils about public institutions operating in the field of finance.” (“‘Lessons on Finance’ programme – 2024 edition,” MF).
This year we are preparing in-person classes for children where we teach:
- how important it is to create and use secure passwords, especially in the context of electronic banking,
- what a secure login is, especially for online payments,
- how to spot phishing to avoid the risk of losing money.
Two meetings are already behind us:
- on 1 October, we had a visit from children from Morski Oddział Straży Granicznej Primary School in Jantar,
- and on 3 October, a visit from children from the Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko Primary School in Jelna.
