"Online Hate and Cyberbullying" Webinar

"Online Hate and Cyberbullying" Webinar

We have just concluded another webinar in our "Online Hate and Cyberbullying" series. It is a challenging but incredibly important topic—especially in today’s digital world. This time, our virtual meeting hosted students from Grades 1-3 and Grades 7-8.

Although these two age groups are years apart in experience, they shared a common goal: understanding how to ensure their own safety and the safety of others online.

Why are we talking about this?

We believe that education is the most effective weapon against online aggression. During the session, we focused on several key aspects:

  • For the youngest (Grades 1-3): We discussed how words online can hurt just as much as those spoken in person, and we identified who to turn to when something feels wrong.
  • For the older students (Grades 7-8): We addressed legal liability, the long-term consequences of hate speech, and how to take action when witnessing peer-to-peer cyberviolence.

Reporting hate is not "snitching"—it is an act of courage and a way to maintain digital hygiene for everyone. The internet is not a place exempt from the law or the rules of basic courtesy.

A Strong Community Signal

We were incredibly heartened by the high turnout. Such a large number of participants is a clear signal that the issue of cyberbullying is not just important, but crucial for our community. It shows that both students and teachers feel the need to speak out about these problems and seek concrete solutions.

Thank you to everyone who attended!
