River Sailor's Day
02 august 2024
The Wrocław City Hall once again organized the celebration of the River Sailor's Day. Our colleagues from the UKE branch in Wroclaw took part in the picnic on Ksawery Dunikowski Boulevard. Both the weather and the number of visitors were excellent. We were also visited by prominent figures – see for yourself!
The President of UKE is the only state authority in Poland that is in charge for issuing Radio Equipment Operator Certificates in maritime service and inland navigation. During the picnic, we informed about the available dates of exams for radio equipment operator certificates and the requirements for obtaining them. We presented the devices required as equipment for vessels, used to rescue survivors at sea. These devices are used during the following exams:
- • Icom IC-M323G Marine Band Radiotelephone with ATIS functions, DSD Class D with built-in GPS;
- • The McMurdo Radar Transponder Type S4 is a transceiver designed to positioning of survivors on the radar screens of rescue vessels;
- • The McMurdo G5 emergency radio beacon buoy is a 406MHz EPIRB device with an additional built-in GPS channel receiver. When activated, the radio beacon buoy transmits its exact GPS position along with the signal to the rescue services, which significantly shortens the search time and increases the chances of rescuing survivors.
Each visitor had the opportunity to take a mock exam for a radio equipment operator's certificate and assess their knowledge in this domain. The result of our efforts is the number of people taking exams in the Delegation in Wrocław is increasing every year 😊,
We look forward to meeting you next year!
