Training for Consumer Ombudsmen
12 march 2025
At UKE, consumer protection is one of key priorities. We are committed to raising the digital competences of society, educating on rights and obligations, and cooperating with institutions dealing with consumer protection. On March 4, we met with consumer ombudsmen from the Silesian Voivodeship to discuss new regulations resulting from the Electronic Communications Law. Head of Unit, Milena Górecka from the Department of Consumer Policy presented, among others, new obligations of communication services providers regarding the provision of pre-contractual information, summary of contract terms, and principles of providing services as part of bundled offers. Agnieszka Osełka explained issues related to the elements of the contract for the provision of electronic communication services.
The ombudsmen also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with issues concerning:
✅ duration of the contract,
✅ the principles of automatic extension of contracts,
✅ calculating compensation,
✅ refunding funds from top-ups,
✅ services with additional benefits.
The meeting was a space for exchanging experiences and discussing the problems that consumers report to the ombudsmen on a daily basis.
