World Consumer Rights Day in Szczecin
16 march 2026
On 15 March, we celebrate World Consumer Rights Day – an occasion that provides an excellent opportunity for organisations that support consumers on a daily basis to come together, exchange experiences and discuss the challenges faced by people using services across various market sectors. The common aim of these activities is not only to respond to emerging issues, but also to educate consumers and raise awareness of their rights.
This year’s celebrations in Szczecin took place on 13 March 2026 and were organised by the Municipal Consumer Ombudsman in Szczecin, Ms Marzena Nowowiejska-Wojciechowska. These were the first celebrations organised by the new Ombudsman.
The event was attended by representatives from the UKE Branch office in Szczecin: Director Wojciech Rymer, together with employees: Jacek Jarocki, Michał Kowalczyk, Andrzej Żukowski and Anna Gottfried-Stankiewicz.
During the meeting, a number of issues were raised concerning the problems faced by consumers, particularly in the areas of electronic communications and postal services. It was also emphasised how important role consumer education plays in combating unfair market practices.
The event was attended by consumer ombudsmen from towns and districts across the West Pomeranian Region, as well as representatives of institutions collaborating with the Municipal Consumer Ombudsman, including the Provincial Trade Inspection Authority in Szczecin, the Energy Regulatory Office, the Szczecin Municipal Police Headquarters and the academic community – the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin.
We are grateful for the opportunity to take part in this event and for the inspiring exchange of experiences. Cooperation between consumer protection bodies remains a crucial element of effective support for citizens.
